VPN Tunnel Setup on the RV016, RV042, RV042G and RV082 VPN
Hi all, I have two sites with RV042's at both ends. There is a VPN tunnel setup between the sites which works fine (both are in Gateway mode). However, I recently added a second RV042 to the second site and placed it in 'router' mode (as opposed to 'gateway' mode. Dec 10, 2004 · The easiest way to do this is say make the HQ on a 172.16.x.x setup, with the warehouse at 192.168.1.x sort of config. Then you put static routes on your routers pointing anything 172.16.0.0/16 for the warehouse across the VPN to HQ, and anything 192.168.1.0/24 for the office across the VPN to the warehouse. Presumably you have setup both ADSL routers to pass port 500/4500 to the RV042. The VPN policies should not reference anything dealing with the RV042's WAN IP 192.168.2.x nor 192.168.3.x. As far as each router is concerned it knows the external IP of the ADSL which is the source of the request and the LAN behind the RV042. I have an existing network setup that I inherited from my predecessor. Currently there are two sites, each with a Linksys RV042 VPN router running the 18.104.22.168-tm firmware. They are currently set up with a Gateway to Gateway VPN. One site has a static IP, the other has a Dynamic IP with a hostname set up on no-ip.com. While setting up VPN connections on each computer in the remote office is possible, it often isn't practical. Cisco Linksys small business routers such as the RV042 and RV082 allow the creation of VPN tunnels between them. This allows you to join two private local area networks (LANs) over the internet. Solution Setup a static IP address on either your computer or device that you want to forward a port to. Login to your Linksys RV042 router. Navigate to the port forwarding section. Click the Setup link. Click on Forwarding. Click the Service Management button. Create a port forward entry.
